Welcome back to the Studio Scale-Up Series, where I share my journey, insights and lessons learned from growing a successful marketing consultancy.
In this second instalment, I want to take you back to the roots of Studio White Marketing Consultancy and share how it all began.
A Lifelong Goal:
Running my own business has always been a dream of mine. I’ve always been fascinated by the world of entrepreneurship and the idea of creating something from the ground up. However, as many of you know, life often has its own plans. The responsibilities of family, work and everyday life can make it challenging to carve out the time and space needed to pursue such an ambitious goal.
A Moment to Reflect:
Then came the unexpected global pause – the Covid-19 pandemic. Like many others, I found myself with a rare opportunity: downtime. While the world grappled with uncertainty, I used this time to reflect on my career and aspirations. The pandemic, with all its challenges, provided a unique moment to think deeply and plan meticulously. It was during this period of reflection that I realised it was time to take the leap.
Seizing the Opportunity:
When an opportunity came along to work with my first client, I knew I had to seize it. With a mix of excitement and nervousness, I took on the project, pouring my heart and soul into my new role as a marketing consultant. It was incredibly rewarding and fulfilling to offer advice and feel valued for my knowledge and expertise. Word spread, and soon, I found myself juggling multiple clients, all while managing this new way of remote working that the world had thrown at us!
The Early Days – Balancing Act:
The early days of Studio White were a whirlwind. Onboarding new clients remotely presented its own set of challenges. Clear communication and building trust from a distance required creativity and perseverance. At the same time, I was navigating personal milestones – including a pregnancy and then new born. Running your own business means there’s no ‘real’ maternity leave. Instead, I found myself balancing client calls with a baby in arms while planning strategic sessions.
Family and Business – A Delicate Balance:
Life as a mother of three young children – with two in school, one in nursery and all in after-school activities, added another layer of complexity. Each day was a delicate balance of time management, ensuring that I was present for my children while also delivering top-notch service to my clients. There were late nights, early mornings and countless moments of guilt, but the joy of seeing my business grow kept me going.
Four Years On – Ready to Scale:
Now, four years later, Studio White Marketing Consultancy stands on the brink of an exciting new chapter. As I look to the future, it’s time to scale the business, expand my team and take on new ambitious projects. The lessons learned from juggling motherhood and entrepreneurship have equipped me with the resilience and determination needed to elevate Studio White Marketing to new heights.
Looking Ahead:
Scaling a business requires careful planning, strategic investment and a clear vision for the future. In the coming months, I will be focusing on expanding our service offerings, enhancing our digital presence and forging new partnerships and collaboration. My goal is to continue delivering exceptional marketing solutions while maintaining the personal touch that has become my hallmark.
I hope my story inspires you to pursue your own entrepreneurial dreams, no matter how daunting they may seem. Stay tuned for the next instalment of the Studio Scale-Up Series, where I dive into my strategies for scaling up and the exciting plans I have in store for Studio White Marketing Consultancy.
Until next time…
